Turns out it’s not always so clear cut, because, 1️⃣ “Accepting” those things you can’t change doesn’t have to mean giving up on what you want, and 2️⃣ fighting against something isn’t actually always the quickest route to your goal. 
.
Sailors know this. 😊⛵️ You can get super upset at the wind for not cooperating... aaaannd that won’t get you very far. 😆 😬🙃 But that doesn’t mean you have to just sit in the harbor either. 💨
.
So often our stress comes from worrying about things we can’t control, or fighting an uphill battle. In the midst of that, it’s sometimes easy to lose sight of what we *can* do instead. 
.
This quote has been attributed to many people in many forms over the decades. And the concept is so universal. “I can’t change the direction of the wind but I can adjust my sails to always reach my destination”. 💙
.
Bringing this idea on land, when the circumstances don’t seem to work out, how can you adjust? How can that destination still be in reach, even if it’s by a different path? 💕💭❔🤗 I know I ask myself this ALL the time and I’m surprised how quick it leads to new ideas 😊

    • Stress, fear, disappointment, anger... 😣often our instinct is to make them go away as quickly as possible. ✋ And, for a lot of us working on living a happier life, the natural tendency is to jump right into problem-solving mode, 🤷‍♀️trying to make those unpleasant feelings *disappear* — ASAP. 🪄

One of the most important lessons I’ve learned... those feelings are there to tell you something. 💙And, you can’t “solve” something until you really slow down and examine it. 🧘‍♂️

Our thoughts can have powerful influence on how we feel in any situation, and sometimes make it hard to even think straight. It's no fun. So...what the heck are we supposed to do about it?? 😒

Well it would be nice if stressful things just wouldn't happen. LOL....🙃🤷‍♀️. But luckily, there are a few simple things we can practice in the midst of those stressful situations that can tone down the impact a lil' bit. I find it's always handy to have simple, reliable models to turn to when the brain gets all tied up in knots 🎀☺️
